Masatoshi Koshiba

Masatoshi Koshiba (born on 19 September 1926 in Toyohashi, Aichi Prefecture) - a Japanese physicist and Nobel Prize winner for Physics in 2002 (with Raymond Davis and Riccardo Giacconi, for the creation of neutrino astronomy).

In the 1950s and 1960s Koshiba was studying high-energy cosmic radiation and related phenomena in the upper atmosphere. In 1970, these studies led him to the muon and neutrino physics and the physics of elementary particles, and he became a Professor at Tokyo University. After participating in the JADE - a joint German-Japanese project on the accelerator DESY in Hamburg, he designed the Kamiokande detector to record the proton predicted by the disruption theory. His experiments led to the first direct evidence of the theories about the processes occurring in the collapse of the star, in particular the theory of neutrino cooling.

"In modern society, drug addiction has become a very serious problem that requires attention. I am glad that there are people who care about it. I admire the activities carried out by the World League. I wish you luck in your work!"
