"I am not a lawyer and not a politician. So, I can only think about this issue as a random man. I do not think that all laws must be so generalized. Yes, I understand that drugs are often the cause of crime and that drug addiction leads people to despair. But this does not mean that all drug addicts are criminals. Many of them made the mistake of trying drugs, but because of this they are not criminals, because many of them want to "get off the needle" - they just do not know how to or cannot do so without help. That is why imprisoning people for drug use is an exaggerated measure, because not all drug addicts want to be addicts! For this reason I think that compulsory treatment is a good initiative, as in this case drug addicts will not be able to say that they tried to quit using drugs even if they didn’t. Plus, the fact that the government would bear the cost of treatment will eliminate the problem faced by many addicts - the presence of desire and lack of financial resources for treatment."
