The President of the World League “Mind Free of Drugs”, Professor Jenishbek Nazaraliev, has paid a tribute in memory of Mr. Kofi Annan, United Nations Ex Secretary-General

The President of the World League “Mind Free of Drugs”, Professor Jenishbek Nazaraliev,  has expressed his condolences on his official FB page in connection with unexpected decease of the United Nation’s Ex Secretary-General , Mr. Kofi Annan ( 1938-2018)

On this date, 18th of August, Professor Nazaraliev wrote about his friendship with this Nobel politician, recalled their first meeting and spoke about their mutual work. Their first meeting took place back in 2002, during Kofi Annan’s visit to Central Asia, the city of Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan.

In Presidential residence during the close venue, Professor Nazarailev presented to Mr. Annan his non-governmental organization World League “Mind Free of Drugs”, and shared his ideas about drug and alcohol prevention among youth at the global scale. Mr. Annan supported the initiative and became the very first Honorable Member of the World League “Mind Free of Drugs”.

As a thank you gesture, Professor Nazaraliev handed to Ex Secretary-General a symbol of the World League – a perfectly rounded, ancient rock. Mr. Annan touched the rock as he was touching something sacred, explaining his attitude by his African roots and background.

“A few years prior our first meeting and hand shake, I visited Ghana, Mr. Annan’s motherland. I visited Kumasi where his was born and learned the language of local shamans. At this very place, I felt what truly laid under the layer of Western education and diplomatic tact obtained with years of practical experience. I sensed what lived inside Mr. Annan’s  soul,” -  Professor Nazaraliev says.

Mr. Kofi Annan signed the Appeal to the Mankind of the XXII Century and Professor Nazaraliev assured Mr. Annan that his name will always stay on the first page of the World League's history.

“Today, we moan together with Mr. Annan’s family and we express our deepest and sincere condolences to all who knew this Nobel person and prominent politician,”- wrote Professor Nazaraliev, the President of the World League “Mind Free of Drugs”.
